The 1930 World Championships were the first such as a stand alone competition. The three previous titles had been competed for a part of the Olympics.
Contested by Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Poland and Switzerland in Chamonix, France and Berlin, Germany.
