It is very unusual for an ice hockey match in a major British League to finish without a goal. It finished 0-0 in a 1953 Scottish National League game between Ayr Raiders and Edinburgh Royals. In March 1998 Sheffield Steelers and Ayr Scottish Eagles finished 0-0, after over-time, in a Superleague Play-Off game.
