- Oslo Spektrum
- Oslo, Norway. Built in 1990. Built as home ice for both Furuset
IF and Vålerengen IF. However, Furuset soon moved
back to their own part of town. Vålerenga continued to play there until 1993 but rising
costs and low attendances for many games made them move back to their old Jordal Amfi arena. In 1994-95 a group of businessmen
merged Furuset IF and Manglerud/Star and founded a team called the Spektrum Flyers who were to play in the arena - that
team folded in 1996. Vålerenga came back to play three European
Hockey League games in the Spektrum in 1996, paying an astronomical rent of 150,000 kr
(£10,000) a game. Now the Jordal Amfi is being refurbished and taken into use for
the 1999 World Championships and it is likely that the Spektrum
will never host a hockey game again!
