The Mezhnatsionalnaya Hockeynaya Liga (Interstate Hockey League) was established in the CIS in 1992 instead of USSR championships.  The champions were presented with the MHL Cup. It was effectively replaced in 1996 by the RHL (Russian Hockey League).
