Umeå, Sweden. Founded 1901. Originally called IFK Umeå the team became IFK/SSK Umeå after a merger with Sandåkerns SK in 1970-71. Since 1971-72 have been called IF Björklöven (they were known as the Björklöven Lynx for the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons). Björklöven have played a total of 24 seasons in the top Swedish division.

Björn, Lars 'Lasse' (1931- )
Born in Sweden.  Defenceman. Famous for his checking. With Roland Stoltz he formed the most famous defensive duo in Sweden. Did not miss a game in 16 seasons with Djurgårdens IF.
International Career : Played 239 games for Sweden between 1951 and 1961. Played in nine World Championships and three Olympics.
Club Career : Played for Djurgårdens IF.
Medals : Won World Championship gold in 1953 & 1957.
Won European Championship gold in 1952, 1953 & 1957.
Won Olympic bronze in 1952.
Won the Swedish Championship in 1950, 1954, 1955, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 & 1963.
Honours : Elected to the IIHF Hall of Fame in 1998 (player).
